Orchid maniac discovered on Bruny Island!

What makes a person so wild about orchids you may ask?  For me it was simply the discovery of something so small and beautiful, something incredibly different from the other little wild flowers I had been seeing everyday.  Truth is, as a child, teenager and adult living in the tropics I was surrounded by orchids, and yet I never noticed them in the same way as I did the day I found my first Pink Autumn Orchid; Eriochilus cucullatus, here on the Labillardiere Estate in 1992.  Perhaps it was its size, or perhaps its quirky appearance of a pink cowboy, wearing chaps, but most probably it was due to being driven bonkers that I was unable to identify what I thought was a wild flower.
